Big Brother Information

(For Regular Course Students Only)

New students at the Spanish Language Institute who enroll in the regular course can elect to have a Big Brother/Sister to help you get settled into your new surroundings here and be more prepared to study Spanish.  The Big Brother/Sister is a current student who will be able to help you with questions you have before leaving home and help you get established once you arrive in Costa Rica.  Your Big Brother/Sister is committed to making your arrival and transition to Costa Rica as smooth as possible. However, it's up to you to work as closely as possible with this person in providing pertinent information.

After receiving your Big Brother Information Form, your Big Brother/Sister will call you collect or email you. He will ask you to call him back because it is cheaper for you to call him.  Thoroughly read the information found in the links to the left , writing down any questions you have. Then call or e-mail your Big Brother/Sister and discuss them. As soon as you have secured a flight schedule, call with the details, so there will be enough time to find transportation to and from the airport. If you feel you will not be needing the assistance of a Big Brother/Sister, please let us know.  Also, even if someone outside the Institute may be arranging your housing and airport pick-up, the help of a Big Brother/Sister is very valuable in the transition to daily living in Costa Rica and the Institute.  The links on the left contain information that we hope will be helpful in your preparation to come to The Spanish Language Institute.

The student body and the administration see the Big Brother program as a wonderful means of blessing fellow students and missionaries during a time it is much needed.  We also want you to be aware that choosing to have the help of a Big Brother or Sister to facilitate your arrival and getting settled, automatically obligates you to become a Big Brother or Sister during your time as a student.
