The Institute does not have residential facilities.  Students live in neighborhood homes.  Families normally rent a house and singles usually live with a Costa Rican family.  Couples without children may choose either option, though they are strongly advised to consider living with a family, where they will have more opportunity to interact closely with the culture.

The Housing Coordinator (a member of the student council) and the Student Services Coordinator maintain a database for houses, apartments, and rooms for rent within a narrow radius of the Institute and makes recommendations on fair pricing. 

Families renting a house are encouraged to consider hiring a maid to help with household chores and cooking.  This will free mothers to dedicate more time to language learning and also provide an important contact with the Costa Rican community.  Help with legal and practical considerations in hiring a maid is provided through the Maid Coordinator (a member of the student council).  For more information on maids, including costs involved, please see Domestic Help.
