All Institute, Sojourn Academy, and Rayitos de Sol fees must be paid within a week of billing, unless prior arrangement has been made to bill your sending agency. (If your sending agency will be paying all your bills, but does not already have credit with the Institute, please have them send us a letter stating they will be paying all of your fees.) Agencies have 30 days following the billing date to make payments and will be charged a 10% late fee thereafter. Students continuing in the Regular Course must have paid all fees from the previous trimester before registering for the next trimester.
Please be sure that your check is drawn on a US bank account, since you will be asked to pay any (often exorbitant) fees that are charged for international checks or transfers. Checks should be made payable to The Spanish Language Institute for the adult students. Checks must not contain any corrections as they will not be accepted by our Costa Rican bank.
Checks for fees related to children in the MK school should be made payable to CEBILE (Centro Educativo Bilingue del Instituto de Lengua Espaņola). In order to maintain lower tuitions, the Institute does not accept credit card payments. Missionaries receive a 13% discount on Regular Course tuition. Students who withdraw early will be charged for the time studied plus a 30% withdrawal fee. If it is not possible to place a student in a group, at the discretion of the Academic Director, they will be offered two hours of individual attention (one-on-one) in the morning; or in the afternoon, depending on teacher availability.

* The pre-registration fee applies each trimester that a student enrolls and is non-refundable. If an individual is delayed in arrival and notifies the Institute at least 20 days before the term begins, the fee will be applied to the following trimester. In the event of a second delay or a cancellation, the fee will be retained.
Note for Adult Language School classes :
1) The fees quoted above apply to a normal class load in the Regular Course, i.e., four hours per day in a group, or upon the discretion of the
Academic Director, two hours of individual attention.
2) The FARO meetings and activities count as two hours of class time.
3) Fees for variations from the normal course load will be adjusted on a sliding scale.
