Institute students have ample opportunities to use Spanish in culturally authentic contexts that reinforce and broaden the language learning experience.
Activities On Campus
Once a trimester, a whole morning is set aside for cultural workshops lead by teams of teachers. Students may choose from a variety of topics such as, folk music, popular dance, Costa Rican cuisine, tropical fruits and home remedies.
Celebrating Costa Rican Style.
Teachers are also invited to lead chapel three times per trimester, thus facilitating interaction with students outside of the classroom, in the context of worship and Christian fellowship.
Costa Rican patriotic holidays are usually celebrated by means of a joint assembly with Sojourn Academy immediately before or after the corresponding dates. These include: April 11, Juan Santamarķa Day; July 25, Annexation of Guanacaste; September 15, Independence Day; and October 12, Columbus Day.
